 What is the 800 lb. Gorilla in the room? It is the thing that everyone can see and no one talks about. We will begin this series the first Sunday of May. It is a series that is intended to hit pressing issues in the church today. Some issues will directly impact this church, while other issues are more about the church at
large. The idea behind the series is to make us really examine some of the things we do in light of what God COMMANDS us to do. It can be uncomfortable to address tough issues, but the reality is we are called to do some uncomfortable things as Christians.
Now, before you get too nervous about this series, let me just say that there will be humor, videos, stories, and of course, lots of scripture as we have every week. Sometimes though, we just have to get serious and face up to some realities in front of us. I hope you will get out of this series as much as I am from writing it.
We all have a responsibility to be conformed to the image of Christ. We all have a responsibility to hold one another account- able. We all have a responsibility to point out the gorilla, inform others, and kick him to the curb. Jesus should be the strongest influence in our lives, but as long as we allow the gorilla to live with us, that cannot be. Let’s give Jesus the throne of our lives.
